Pattaconk Yacht Club is an active power cruising club with over 200 members and 125 permanent slips.  The location of the club in Chester CT places the slips in fresh water.
Members regularly cruise the waters of Long Island Sound and Block Island, and occasionally venture to Boston, Nantucket, and the upper Hudson River.
The club offers six structured dinners per year and a number of informal barbeques and picnics.  An annual cruising rendezvous is held usually in the Long Island Sound waters.

 BORED WITH WINTER?
Forcing Forsythia

If you have any bushes or trees that bloom early in the spring (Pussy Willows, Forsythia, Apple Trees, Cherry Trees) try cutting a few branches and placing them in a vase of warm water (start them in luke-warm water).

Keep an eye on the water to be sure the level is ok.  You do not need to change the water unless it looks icky. Do not put them in sunlight as that will dry them out too much.

In about a week you should have some color on the buds, and soon after they will blossom.  Results vary by plant, and by how warm your room is.

This Forsythia is about half way to full bloom.

  JUST LOVE THE OUTDOORS?
Ice Cracking

Cannot get enough of the outdoors? Carol, Nancy, Donna, and Karen met at the Chester Town Dock to hear the ice crack.

It is an annual event for them (and their husbands, not shown in this photo).

Afterwards, a warm-up and some drinks in the clubhouse, and a chance to catch up on the latest news.
